DDC Chairperson reviews RDSS implementation in Ramban, emphasises timeline completion of works

RAMBAN, MAY 24: To review the implementation of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) in Ramban district, a high-level meeting was convened here today. The meeting was chaired by Chairperson District Development Council (DDC) Dr. Shamshad Shan in the Conference Hall, Maitra.
The meeting was attended by DDC Councillors, Additional District Development Commissioner Roshan Lal, Superintendent Engineer PDD, Chief Planning Officer, Executive Engineers of STD, JPDCL and NTPC, District Incharge NTPC, AEEs, AGM SJ Transformers, RDSS contractors, and other concerned officials.

At the outset, the Chairperson reviewed the area-wise progress and achievements under RDSS. Officers briefed the house on the objectives of the scheme, highlighting its focus on modernizing and strengthening the power infrastructure to ensure quality, reliable, and affordable electricity supply to the public.
Expressing concern over the slow pace of implementation, the Chairperson instructed the executing agencies to coordinate closely with DDC Councillors to expedite the progress of ongoing works. She underscored the urgency of completing the projects before the onset of the rainy season, which typically hampers developmental activities due to adverse weather conditions.

The Chairperson also took note of the challenges affecting the execution of projects, including Right of Way (ROW) issues, delays in forest clearances, and insufficient fund releases. She directed the concerned departments to resolve these impediments on priority to avoid further delays.
The Chairperson emphasized the need to execute all RDSS works in a mission mode to improve the power scenario across Ramban district, thereby ensuring tangible benefits to the local population.
