DC Reasi flags off Cyclothon to promote Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan
REASI, JUNE 03: To raise awareness about the perils of drug abuse, Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik today flagged off a Cyclothon as part of the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” campaign. The event, organised by the Social Welfare Department Reasi, saw enthusiastic participation from around 60 cyclists.

The Cyclothon commenced from the DC Office Complex and concluded at Government Degree College (GDC) Reasi, covering a stretch of approximately 3 kilometers. The event formed a key activity under the 26-day anti-drug awareness campaign currently underway in the district.
Addressing the participants, the DC stressed the importance of community-driven efforts to combat substance abuse. “Events like this not only promote a drug-free lifestyle but also encourage physical fitness, mental well-being and a sense of camaraderie among youth. Such initiatives are essential to divert young minds towards positive pursuits like sports, fitness and social engagement,” she said.
She further highlighted the crucial role educational institutions, parents and local communities can play in ensuring that the youth stay on the right path. “Awareness is the first step towards change. By involving the youth in such campaigns, we empower them to be change-makers and ambassadors of a healthier society,” she added.
The Cyclothon concluded on a celebratory note with the top three cyclists being awarded prizes in recognition of their performance and spirit.
The Social Welfare Officer Sachin Sharma expressed gratitude to all the participants and assured that more such awareness and outreach programs would be conducted during the campaign to ensure wider community participation and impact.
