DC Poonch approves allotment of Electro-Mechanical Works, Bore Wells under Jal Jivan Mission

Emphasizes timeline achievement of Har Ghar Jal target to benefit people

POONCH, September 08:  Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Yasin M. Choudhary today chaired a meeting and approved allocation of fifteen (15) electro-mechanical works and two (02) Bore wells under the Jal Jivan Mission (JJM) for the Jal Shakti (PHE) division in Poonch.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Poonch, Sandesh Kumar Sharma, Divisional Forest Officer, (T) Naveed Iqbal, Assistant Commissioner Development, Abid Hussain Shah, Chief Planning Officer, Maqsod Ahmed, Assistant Commissioner Development, Abid Hussain Shah, SE Hydraulic,  Bhramjyoti, Xen PHE, Riaz Ahmed,  Xen irrigation & Flood control, Vaneet Vaid, District Social welfare Officer, Mohinder Paul, District Forest Officer, Munshi Ram, TO to SE, Gafoor Ahmed beside other concerned officers were present in the meeting.

The meeting aimed to ensure the effective implementation of the mission and alleviate water scarcity issues faced by the residents.

During the meeting, it was revealed that of the total 93 electro-mechanical works, 70 works have already been tendered, 26 works allotted and 15 works have been issued allotment letters of intent (LOI), while currently  29 works are undergoing the tendering process.

It was further informed that of 130 borewell works, 128 already stand tendered and allotted. “Two works have been issued allotment letters of intent (LOI), and there are no works currently under evaluation (technical/financial) or in the tendering process,” the meeting was informed.

Recognizing the importance of the Jal Jivan Mission (JJM) and the dire need to augment water supply, the Deputy Commissioner directed the executive engineers and other concerned officers to work diligently towards achieving the targets set under the Har Ghar Jal initiative. The primary objective is to provide tap water connections to every household, ensuring that the people of Poonch, including those residing in remote areas, can benefit from the JJM scheme and overcome water scarcity.

The Deputy Commissioner urged the officers to expedite the execution process, maintain transparency, and ensure that the allotted works are completed within the stipulated time frame.
