DC Kathua reviews preventive measures against Dengue, Malaria

KATHUA, September 05: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rakesh Minhas today convened a meeting of health officials to evaluate the current status of the Dengue, Malaria and the measures taken to prevent its spread.

Principal GMC, Dr Surinder Kumar Atri, CMO, Dr Rakesh Magotra, CPO Kathua Uttam Singh, CEO MC Kathua along with other senior officers of concerned departments were present in the meeting.

While reviewing the health scenario viz a viz Malaria, Dengue, the DC Kathua directed the officials to develop a mechanism to address the patients’ details which will help to remove the discrepancies in data of dengue cases and other related information.

The DC asked to intensify preventive activities and ensure availability of blood products, including platelets and medications. He stressed on proper diagnosis of the patients besides ensuring following of Standard Operating Procedures for the treatment.

The DC directed the CEO MC Kathua to work at the forefront and ensure regular cleaning of dumping sites and fogging of the areas falling within the municipal limits and also area up to 01 KM radius around the municipal limits. He also underscored the need for maintaining clear and unobstructed drainage systems to prevent water logging and associated issues which form breeding grounds for the mosquitoes.

The DC further directed the health officials to continue day to day monitoring and spreading mass awareness for the prevention and control of Dengue & Malaria.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized on constant and close reviewing, monitoring the situation in coordination with other concerned departments. He also directed the head of ULBs for early submission of plans and strategies to effectively counter these water-borne diseases in the district.
