DC Jammu reviews Jal Jeevan Mission, self employment schemes, Youth festival arrangements

JAMMU, MARCH 01: Deputy Commissioner Jammu Avny Lavasa today convened a series of meetings to review the progress of works under Jal Jeevan Mission, self employment schemes, arrangements regarding Youth Festival here at DC Office complex.

Commissioner JMC, Rahul Yadav, ADC L&O Harvinder Singh, CPO Yoginder Katoch along with other officers were present during the meetings.

At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner was informed by the concerned officers that there are 272 schemes under JJM in which 737 works have been proposed out of which 730 have been tendered.

The Deputy Commissioner said that JJM is a flagship program of Central government in which 100 % saturation of functional household tap water has to be ensured by the Implementing agency by the end of this year.

Regarding self employment schemes, the concerned official apprised the Chair that there are 5668 cases sponsored out of which 3985 have been sanctioned, 3317 disbursed. It was also informed that 13368  employment was generated through sanctioned cases.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned officials to aware and educated unemployed youths to take optimum benefits from various schemes initiated by UT Administration to address the un- employment issue in the UT.

She said that effective implementation of various self employment programmes under Central and State sectors was the key to address the challenge of un-employment and to enable youth to earn a dignified livelihood.

The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the arrangements regarding smooth conduct of Youth Festival which is being organised with Mission Youth on 4th of March at BSF Paloura.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned officials to work in liaison with other departments and make all the arrangements well in time.
