DC inspects progress of four laning, restoration works on Nashri to Banihal section of NH-44

RAMBAN, January 18: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mussarat Islam, along with Senior Superintendent of Police, Mohita Sharma, today inspected progress on National Highway four laning works from Nashri to Banihal, besides reviewing the restoration work at landslide hit stretch and damaged steel tunnel at Panthyal.

The DC asked PD, NHAI to expedite the repair of damaged steel tunnel at Panthyal to provide safe passage to commuters. He also instructed PD to Install High Mast lights near the steel tunnel.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Collector Land Acquisition NH-44), Harbans Lal Sharma, Project Director NHAI, Parshotam Kumar and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.

The DC also inspected the vulnerable locations on National Highway and reviewed the preparedness of the construction companies to keep the road open in case of snowfall. He also discussed various issues highlighted by the SSP regarding maintaining hassle free traffic movement on NH-44, especially during raining and snowfall.    

Reviewing the stretch and project wise progress, the DC directed the officers of NHAI to keep men and machinery in a ready mode to tackle any emergency, especially during the expected  spell of rain and snowfall in coming days.

The DC also directed the officers of executing agencies and other essential departments to ensure availability of essential services and supplies for the people, especially in hilly and snow bound areas.

Earlier, as a part of the weekly public outreach programme, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with the people of Neera, Karoal and other adjoining panchayats at Mehar. He listened to the issues of public and passed directions to concerned agencies to resolve the issues of public interests on a priority basis.
