DC chairs District-Level Zila Sainik Welfare Board meeting at Udhampur
Stresses on welfare of Ex-Servicemen, veterans & dependents of war heroes
UDHAMPUR, JUNE 12: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai today chaired the annual general body meeting of the Zila Sainik Welfare Board to review its functioning and deliberate on the welfare measures and schemes for ex-servicemen, war widows and their dependents in the district.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh, Chief Planning Officer Mohammad Iqbal, General Manager DIC Kishore Singh and other senior officers from the district administration.
At the outset, the Zila Sainik Welfare Officer briefed the meeting about the functioning of the Board and highlighted the issues being faced by the ex-servicemen community. He projected a wide range of demands seeking allotment of land for the construction of Sainik Sarai, development of housing colony and reservation of plots for ex-servicemen, establishment of a KV at Majalta, employment opportunities for ex-servicemen, infrastructure improvement of the Zila Sainik Welfare Board, construction of a meeting-cum-waiting shed for ex-servicemen, survey, demarcation and construction of a front boundary wall for the ZSWB, repair and furnishing of ZSWB cum Boys Hostel building, construction of toilet facilities for women, improvement of road connectivity to the Zila Sainik Board.
The DC directed the concerned departments to take prompt action on all pending issues and reiterated the District Administration’s commitment to extending full support to strengthen the functioning and infrastructure of the ZSWB.
She also encouraged the ex-servicemen to actively contribute towards combating the drug menace and to promote sports and physical fitness among the youth. AD Employment was directed to organize registration camps for ex-servicemen on the designated portal. Additionally, Tehsildar Udhampur was instructed to prioritize and resolve the land and other related issues of ex-servicemen without delay.
