DC Budgam reviews ongoing upgradation works at Charar-i-Sharief Shrine, Dia-Nag Shiv Temple
Directs focussing on heritage restoration and tourism under Archives and Restoration Scheme
BUDGAM, MAY 27: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Akshay Labroo today conducted an extensive visit to Charar-i-Sharief Shrine at Charar-i-Sharief area and Dia-Nag Shiv Temple in Budgam area to review the ongoing development and restoration works.
The visit is part of the broader initiative under the Archives and Restoration Scheme aimed at conserving & developing cultural and heritage sites across the district.
During his visit to the revered Charar-i-Sharief Shrine, DC inspected multiple components currently under execution as part of a major heritage upgradation plan.
Key developments include Devri Path around the shrine, additional Lavatory & Toilet Block, beautification of historic Bada-Talab which includes fencing around the water body contributing to the shrine’s aesthetic and environmental revival, upgradation of Shrine Facade, Clock Tower Construction at Charar-i-Sharief area which is under construction, Parking Area which is recently opened and upgraded to facilitate better access for devotees and tourists
Speaking on the occasion, DC emphasised that these interventions aim to preserve the spiritual and cultural essence of Charar-e-Sharief while providing better amenities to pilgrims and visitors.
Later, DC also visited the Dia-Nag Shiv Temple at Budgam, where multiple restoration and beautification works are going on.
Major components include, walnut wood panelling for enhanced aesthetic and structural quality as interiors, external facade which has Devri stone work and RCC-based retrofitting, rejuvenation of spring area which includes complete reconstruction and installation of structural steel fencing, Gate & Fencing which has reinforced cement concrete with finely chiselled Devri stone work, walkways & paths, signage boards crafted from Devri stone and stainless steel alphabets, park development involving concrete, rough chiseled Devri stone, and structural steel fencing etc .
The DC noted that the restoration of Dia-Nag Temple is about cultural preservation, spiritual renewal, and development of our revered heritage temple.
He further said that upgradation works at Imambara Budgam and Imambara Bemina have also been commenced. These projects, under the same heritage preservation scheme, are expected to be dedicated to the public soon.
He said, with projects focused on both infrastructure and historical preservation, Budgam administration is aligning its development goals with the promotion of spiritual tourism and sustainable heritage conservation.
During the visit the DC was accompanied by SE R&B Budgam, CPO, SDM Chadoora, Executive Engineers of R&B Budgam, Charar-i-Sharief; Tehsildar Budgam, Chrar-i-Sharief and other concerned officials.
