CUJ organizes “Thursday Mind Meet”

Panel discussion organized by Physics and Astronomical Sciences on Lithium ion batteries for Electric Vehicles (EVs).

Jammu, 01 Feb 2024 – Department of Physics and Astronomical Sciences, Central University of Jammu, today organized a weekly program “Thursday Mind Meet” under the patronage of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, CUJ.

Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Principal Scientist and renowned battery technology expert from CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CSIR-CECRI) Chennai, delivered a compelling talk shedding light on the significant advancements in fast charging lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles (EVs). As the world witnesses a surge in demand for eco-friendly energy solutions, Dr. Singh discussed the pivotal role of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries as a promising alternative to traditional nickel-cobalt batteries. Despite initial challenges such as lower energy density and slower charging capabilities, he emphasized that recent technological breakthroughs are effectively addressing these limitations, making LFP batteries increasingly competitive and viable for widespread EV adoption. The participants engaged in a thorough discussion on various ideas and innovations in the field of Li ion battery.

Prof. Vandana Sharma, Convener of the event, motivated the students and research scholars encouraging them to value such opportunities for exposure.

Prof. Vinay Kumar, Dean, School of Basic and Applied Sciences, in his remarks thanks Prof. Sanjeev Jain, HVC for providing such a platform for our faculty and students. He also said that Dr. Singh’s research and contributions have significantly advanced the field, and he continues to be at the forefront of innovation in sustainable energy solutions.

Prof. Kusum Kumari, Co-convener of the event, introduced the expert and panelists present in the discussion. The program was moderated by Prof. Suram Singh, Dr. Ashish Kumar, Dr. Onkar Nath and Dr. Manvi Rajput. The program ended with a vote of thanks by the Co-convener.
