CUJ Organizes Shiksha Shastrarth on Recent Advancements in Educational Research

Jammu, 13th May 2024: The Department of Educational Studies, Central University of Jammu, under an academic platform namely Shiksha Shastrarth Lectures’ Series, organised Sixth Shiksha Shastrarth on “Recent Advancements in Educational Research”.

On behalf of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain, H.O.D. Prof. Asit K. Mantry welcomed and introduced the Resource Person Prof. Rajeev Rattan Sharma, Dean and Faculty of Education, University of Jammu. On the occasion Prof. Mantry said that the key objective of this lecture series is to enhance the potentialities of scholars and make them aware about the global trends and technology in the educational field.

While focussing on the key theme, Prof. Rajeev Rattan Sharma started his deliberations regarding the advancements in research right from 50’s in which the research was based on behaviourist pattern, going through 60s and 70’s research encompasses new phase with the focal area on Psychological domain; followed by the post 80’s and 90’s  women’s education and special education took the new phase and in the same line entering into 90’s research gone changed and the era of Bloom’s taxonomy, Technology, Radio, Television became popular. While entering into the 90’s to 2000 the classroom era got changed and virtual reality, Artificial Intelligence came into limelight. Further, Prof. Sharma emphasised on Bharat Centric Research and asked scholars to do research in Indian context for reshaping the future of Indian society. He said that it is the need of the hour to re-focus our research perspectives in Indian context rather than following the western trends.There is a need to identify the differences between western ideologies and Indian Philosophy so that we can find out the specific solutions of our local problems.While referring the ancient texts and scriptures like Vedas, Manu Samritis, Bhagavad Gita, he further took up some examples of Science and technology, how it was relevant and used in that time. While addressing the queries asked by the scholars, he said we need to integrate the Indian Knowledge System with the recent advances and trends in our research for developing rational and value-based society.

Other faculty members Prof. J.N. Baliya, Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Dr. Aman, Dr. Kiran, Dr. Ravi Vanguri and Dr. Mohan Galgotra and Research scholars of the Department were present at this event. The session was moderated by Ms. Tarandeep Kour and Ms. Meenakshi.
