Craft Carnival Showcases Rich Artistry, Creativity at Krishan Chander Park Poonch

Two-Day Event aims at Celebrating local Handloom and Handicrafts

POONCH, SEPTEMBER 14: The Department of Handloom and Handicraft Poonch, in collaboration with the District Administration Poonch, proudly hosted the first-ever Craft Carnival at Krishan Chander Park. The two-day extravaganza, commencing on September 14th and concluding on September 15th, showcased the remarkable artistic talents of local artisans and craftsmen.

The Craft Carnival was inaugurated today by the Deputy Commissioner of Poonch, Yasin M. Choudhary, in the presence of several distinguished guests and officials. Among those attending the event were Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tahir Mustafa Malik;  PO ICDS, Khalid Hussain Wafa; CEO Tourism, Dr. Mohammad Tanveer; AD Handloom/Handicraft, Shazia Rehman; Principal GDC Poonch, Dr. Jasbir Singh; ACP, Naheem-Un-Nissa Bhatti; DYSP Operation,   Aijaz Ahmed; AHTO, Parupkar Singh; CDPO Mandi Adil Shabir besides supervisors and other concerned officers.

During his visit, Deputy Commissioner Yasin M. Choudhary took the opportunity to explore the various stalls established by different departments. He expressed immense delight upon witnessing the wide array of exquisite homemade items crafted by the talented artisans. Interacting with the artisans, the Deputy Commissioner lauded their exceptional skills and appreciated their dedication to preserving traditional handicrafts. Moreover, he expressed his admiration for the vibrant and captivating paintings created by students from different educational institutions.

The Craft Carnival attracted an overwhelming response, with a huge gathering of enthusiastic visitors throughout the day. The event provided a platform for artisans to showcase their craftsmanship and promote the rich cultural heritage of Poonch. It served as a testament to the remarkable talent and creativity that thrives within the local community.
