Congress seeks resignation of Home Minister/seeks action against erring BJP leaders speaking against Armed forces
Jammu, May 29, 2025:- On the day of the visit of Home Minister Mr. Amit Shah to Jammu Kashmir, Congress today raised serious questions over the security lapses at Pehalgam leading to serious terrorist attack, demanding resignation of Home Minister besides, questioning the silence of BJP leadership, over the highly condemnable and insulting utterances of BJP leaders.

Addressing a Press Conference at PCC HQ. here today JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla, Chief Spokesperson Mr. Ravinder Sharma, Senior leaders Th. Balwan Singh Ex-MLA, Former Minister Yogesh Sawhney, Ved Mahajan Ex-MLC and Chief Media Co-ordinator Neeraj Gupta, questioned the silence of BJP leadership over the highly condemnable utterances of certain BJP leaders including Dy. Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shri Jagdish Devda and Minister Shri Vijay Shah and now BJP MLA Udhampur and Spokesperson of BJP Mr. R.S. Pathania, who have insulted the armed forces. Why the top BJP leadership is totally silent over such utterances against the armed forces, they questioned, seeking stern action against all such leaders.
The senior Congress leaders raised serious questions over the security lapses, at Bisaran (Pahalgam) and asked why there was no security at the site where 2000 tourists used to visit daily there.
The Home Ministry directly looks after the law and order and security matters of J&K UT, so the Home Minister should own the responsibility and resign from the post, besides other heads should roll down who are responsible for this failure.
Shri Raman Bhalla said that as per Foreign Affairs Minister Mr. S. Jai Shankar own disclosure, Pakistan was intimated about the ‘Operation Sindoor” before start of the operation, when our armed forces were ready to go to for attacking the terrorist camps in Pakistan, which is very serious and criminal and a treason, with the nation. The government owes explanation to the nation.
They questioned how the US President Donald Trump announced ceasefire on behalf of India, which amounts to third party interference in violation of Shimla agreement. The government of India should explain the failures of the foreign policy on various aspects, despite series of foreign tours of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Why US treated a terrorist state Pakistan at par with a peaceful country like India? Modi Ji calls him a friend.
They said how Pakistan succeeded in getting IMF aid, despite Pahalgam attack, when India was preparing a counter attack against terrorism. How a terrorist state like Pakistan succeeded in getting this aid and India abstained from voting against it, why?
The party also questioned how the DC and SSP were away from the district, when LOP Lok Sabha Shri Rahul Gandhi visited Poonch on May 24, whereas the entire administration remains of toes when the leader of opposition (LOP) in J&K Assembly belonging to BJP visits different districts and takes review of the situation what is this dual standard in democracy the Home Minister and LG should explain, they asked.
The Congress leaders forcefully raised the party demand for martyr status to the Pehalgam martyrs and all those who lost their lives on borders or elsewhere for the sake of nation.
They charged BJP of hiding behind the success and bravery of our armed forces and trying to take political mileage out of ‘Operation Sindoor’, they said. That the Congress has always taken our forces in high esteem and salutes their bravery and spirit of sacrifice but BJP leaders are insulting and demoralizing the forces by highly objectionable, hateful and insulting utterances and why no action is being taken by the government, BJP high command and law enforcement agencies. The Congress shall take to streets if no action is taken against such elements in the BJP, who receive full patronage of BJP high command.
Shri Raman Bhalla also raised the issue politicization of educational institutions, where teachers alongwith students are raising slogans of ‘BJP Zindabad’ during working hours. They said Congress never indulged such cheap in tactics like BJP. He displayed a video of a government school, where students and teachers are seen raising BJP slogans.
The party demanded that the affected people should be given adequate compensation for the loss of properties to be assessed by the revenue and engineering departments together, besides bunkers in entire border districts including in townships for safety of people alongwith scheme for 5 marlas plots in safer zones. Those who lost their kith and kin should be given jobs in addition to ex-gratia of Rs. 50 lakhs per family. A special package for their rehabilitation and recruitments in border areas be announce by the Home Minister, during his visit, they demanded.
