Congress always stands for rights of J&K people: Bhalla

Says will ensure shining future for J&K people with dignity and honour

Jammu, February 14, 2024:-JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla today said that his party will always stand for the rights of people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that development, dignity and peace in J&K top priorities of Congress. He said that both Jammu and Kashmir are equal in every respect and Congress will also fight for the rights of the people of Jammu. He assured the people of J&K that his party will always fight for the restoration of statehood to J&K. Expressing disappointment over the statehood issue, he stressed upon the need for restoring a popular government in J&K as soon as possible.

Bhalla said Congress is always for the welfare of the people of J&K and thus will always be committed to the goal of serving the people. “Congress agenda has always been the restoration of statehood, development, dignity and peace in J&K,” he added. He said that any laws which do not safeguard the interests and rights of people of J&K would be unacceptable to Congress. “Better would have been such laws of urgent nature should have been left to or dealt with in consultation with the duly elected government in Jammu and Kashmir,” he remarked.

Urging people to vote for Congress in the upcoming elections, Bhalla said, “You have witnessed how BJP and their leaders have deceived you with false promises and empty slogans over the last ten years. But Congress has a straightforward and transparent agenda. We do not make pretentious statements but instead commit to working towards achieving peace, prosperity, and development in Jammu and Kashmir. Give us a fair chance to serve you. I, again promise that Congress will not let you down,” he added. He said his party is committed to ensuring a shining future for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and its people. He vowed that if the Congress receives the public mandate through the democratic process, it will ensure the social, political, and economic empowerment of the J&K people and protect their constitutional rights.

Bhalla urged people to value their votes and not misuse them by falling into the trap of emotional sloganeering and fake promises made by political parties. He said, “Power lies with you, as it is said that people are the fountainhead of power. Don’t undermine the power of your vote by giving it away to political parties who only wanted to attain and retain power to create empires for themselves. Enough is enough; now you must use your vote wisely and not allow these parties to allure you with fake promises anymore.”

I request that you strengthen this party with your support so that it can implement its pro-people agenda, ensuring permanent peace, durable prosperity, and equitable development across Jammu and Kashmir. J&K has suffered hugely over the years due to political uncertainty and conflict. We have to change the scenario for the better, as the future of our youth is at stake. Congress is exceptional in having both the potential and the will to ensure a shining future for Jammu and Kashmir. I appeal to you to give us a chance to realise this dream.” Bhalla emphasized that J&K needs an elected government to address grave issues such as rising unemployment and infrastructural deficits.

“I see a wave of change in J&K. People want to give a chance to Congress  party because they feel misled by BJP in Jammu and Kashmir. The people of J&K have developed a feeling of disconnection with the BJP after 2014 last assembly elections in which the Jammu voted the BJP to power. However, the BJP failed to fulfil the promises which were made with the people,” he said while expressing his support to the people who were feeling alienated without an elected Govt.

Bhalla said while the country is witnessing assembly elections in various states, he said that “The assembly elections are not being held in Jammu and Kashmir for the last five years without citing any reason.”“The Panchayats and Municipalities have completed terms, but no elections were declared for these democratic institutions including the assembly elections in J&K,” Bhalla said. Expressing surprise over the unruly delay in holding elections in J&K, he apprehended that the BJP might be worried about anguish against them among the masses because they have failed completely.
