CLP Leder G.A Mir meets Chief Minister
Seeks reopening of tourist spotsdiscusses various issues of public importance
Srinagar May 22, 2025: In the aftermath of Pahalgam carnage, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Leader & AICC General Secretary Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Thursday met J&K Chief Minister Omer Abdullah in Srinagar and held discussions on key issues especially the current security situation.

Apart from various other pressing issues concerning the public, Mir laid emphasis over revival of tourism in Kashmir, which has received severe setbacks after the inhuman, ghastly and highly condemnable terrorist attack in Bisaran Pahalgam in which 26 innocent tourists and a local were killed, last month.
During the meeting with Chief Minister,Ghulam Ahmad Mir expressed grave concern over the closure of tourist spots especially Betab Valley & Aru in Pahalgam, Achabal, Veerinag, Kokernag in Anantnag & Sinthan and various other important tourist destinations across Kashmir province leading to an acute financial distress confronting people, who are directly or indirectly connected with tourism especially hoteliers, transporters, pony wallas, tourists’ guides, shopkeepers and various other categories depending on tourism industry.
Mir laid strong emphasis over reopening of tourist spots ensuring that the tourism sector is restored & stakeholders get benefitted and earn their livelihood. Tourism is a backbone of Kashmir’s economy, so there is an urgent need to boost the tourism which will be possible by reopening the tourist spots.
Chief Minister Omer Abdullah expressed same concern and assured him (Mir) that the Govt will soon be taking measures to reopen the tourist spots and address the genuine concerns of the stakeholders and general public.
