Central University of Jammu Organizes Workshop-cum-Exhibition on Art-Integrated Pedagogy
Jammu, 01 May 2025: In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020’s emphasis on holistic and multidisciplinary education, the Central University of Jammu recently organised a Workshop-cum-Exhibition on Art-Integrated Pedagogy. The event was conducted under the able guidance of the Head of the Department, Prof. Asit K. Mantry, who has been instrumental in promoting holistic and multidisciplinary education practices in the institution. The event aimed to explore innovative teaching methodologies that integrate art into various subjects, fostering creativity and deeper understanding among students.

Prof. J N Baliya, convener of the workshop, briefed the participants that the Workshop-cum-Exhibition on Art-Integrated Pedagogy at Central University of Jammu was a resounding success, leaving participants inspired to explore new dimensions in teaching and learning. The event not only highlighted the creative potential of students and educators but also reinforced the university’s commitment to implementing the progressive vision of NEP 2020. the workshop’s featured sessions led by experts in education and the arts, and the significance of incorporating artistic elements into traditional curricula. Prof. Baliya also discussed that the event marks a significant step in the Central University of Jammu’s efforts to transform education through the integration of arts, aligning with national objectives to create more engaging and effective learning experiences.
The event was also adorned by Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Dr. Aman, Dr. Kiran, Dr. Ravi Vanguri, Dr. Yadram, Dr Mohan Galgotra, Dr. Rawail, Dr. Nidhi, and other faculty members of the various departments, along with scholars and students from various disciplines. Participants (B.A. B.Ed. 8th Semester students) engaged in hands-on activities demonstrating how art can be used as a tool to enhance learning in subjects like science, Hindi, mathematics, social studies, and English. Complementing the workshop, the exhibition showcased a variety of student-created artworks that exemplified the principles of art-integrated learning. Themes ranged from various content of the teaching learning material, reflecting the students’ ability to connect academic concepts with creative expression.
The entries were evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges comprising experts from the fields of education, fine arts, and pedagogy. The panel included Dr. Yadram, Faculty of the School of Education, Mr. Arvinder Kumar, TGT (Art Education), and Ms. Parinka Sharma, Research Scholar, CUJ. The judges assessed the projects based on relevance to the content, originality of idea, quality of presentation, and pedagogical relevance. Their insightful feedback added immense value to the learning experience of all participants. At last, awards were also presented to participants who demonstrated exceptional creativity and innovation in their projects. The winners of the art-integrated exhibition included Ketika Manhas (1st Prize), Ayush Anand (2nd Prize), and Jyoti Singh Jatt & Tejaswini Sinha (3rd Prize). There were also group activities for which the winners were Ashwini Kumar, Saurabh Saket, Nisha Kumari, and Ayush Anand (Winners), and Mili Rani, Kumar Sourav, Saurabh Diwakar, and Sakshi Devi (Runners-up).
With such initiatives, CU Jammu continues to pave the way for holistic and experiential education in India.
