Central University of Jammu Celebrates Hindi Journalism Day
Jammu, 30 May 2025: The Department of Mass Communication and New Media at Central University of Jammu under the guidance and visionary leadership of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, today organized a thought-provoking program on the occasion of Hindi Journalism Day. Addressing the event, Prof. Paramveer Singh from the New Media Department stated that Hindi journalism plays a crucial role in uniting society. Hindi journalism began with the purpose of social awareness. Prof. Singh highlighted the evolution of Hindi journalism in India and its growing influence in the era of digital media.

Prof. Bharat Bhushan, Head of the Hindi Department, remarked that the relationship between journalism and Hindi is deeply profound. While journalism serves to awaken society, Hindi, being the language of the masses, makes it even more impactful.
Dr. Umesh Kumar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Mass Communication and New Media, emphasized that Hindi journalism is inherently social journalism. In the digital media era, there is a growing crisis of credibility. Hence, it is essential to maintain the trustworthiness of language. The importance of originality is also increasing significantly in the age of digital media.
Dr. Vandana Sharma, Assistant Professor in the Hindi Department, stated that values and culture are integral to language. She noted that if language is cultured, it will lead to the positive development of culture.
The event was organized by research scholars from the Department of Mass Communication and New Media, including Aditya Negi, Sunaina Harit, Neha Singh, Kumar Rishikesh, and Sujata Behara. The program was conducted by research scholar Kumar Rishikesh, while Sujata Behara delivered the vote of thanks. Anshu Kumari, a research scholar from the Hindi Department, recited a poem on Hindi journalism.
Present on the occasion were faculty members from the Department of Mass Communication and New Media, including Manish Prakash and Pushpalata, as well as research scholars from the Hindi Department, such as Dhruv Sharma, Aarti Gupta, Vaishnavi, and others.
