CAHO inspects departmental activities in Thakrie, Drabsahalla blocks of Kishtwar District

KISHTWAR, MAY 22: As part of an ongoing general awareness campaign, the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer (CAHO) Kishtwar Dr Sanjay Kumar Sen visited Block Thakrie and Sarthal area of Block Drabshalla in Kishtwar District.

The purpose of the visit was to oversee the progress of the Department of Animal Husbandry’s initiatives and panchayat-level training programs for farmers under the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP).

During his visit, the CAHO conducted inspections of all Veterinary Centers in the blocks and emphasized the importance of punctuality, biometric attendance, and delivery of quality veterinary services to livestock breeders. He issued strict directives to the department’s employees to ensure adherence to these guidelines.

Furthermore, Dr. Sanjay Kumar Sen instructed the staff of the Animal Husbandry Department to proactively engage with farmers and raise awareness about the various schemes offered by the department. The goal is to ensure maximum participation and benefit for farmers in the government schemes.

The CAHO also interacted with numerous individuals during the visit, providing them with information about flagship schemes such as Integrated Dairy Development Scheme (IDDS), Integrated Poultry Development Programme (IPDP), Integrated Fodder Development Scheme (IFFDS), among others.

The local public was also educated about the advantages of Artificial Insemination (AI) using frozen semen technology for genetic improvement of local cattle breeds. Dr. Sanjay Kumar Sen highlighted the availability of frozen semen technology for AI, free of cost, at nearby Veterinary Centers under the Nationwide Artificial Insemination Programme (NAIP). Additionally, the public was informed about the subsidized rates for Sex Sorted Semen, which is available at all Veterinary Centers in the area.

The visit of CAHO Kishtwar to Block Thakrie and Sarthal was conducted to reaffirm the commitment of the Animal Husbandry Department to reach out to farmers and ensure their access to vital resources and knowledge.

The Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP) continues to make significant strides in promoting sustainable agriculture practices and uplifting the agricultural community in Kishtwar District.
