7 times Bollywood portrayed the impact teachers have on our lives

Everyone relishes the memories of school and college days; these memories are incomplete without the memories of the teachers who shaped our future. Teachers are always there in our fondest memories that we always wish to relive. Teachers do not just make us learn what is in textbooks; instead, they make us develop our overall personalities.

The Indian Film Industry finely portrays some of the teachers on the screen. There are some rough-tough teachers we all are scared of; some teachers we all had a crush on, and some act as friends to students. Bollywood portrays teacher-student relations and takes us back to the good old times we can relate to.

1. Mohabbatein

In the movie, Sharukh Khan played the role of a music teacher in a boarding school for boys named Gurukul. He is friendly and spreads love among his students, which brings him to loggerheads with the Principal, who is orthodox. Being empathetic with the students and dealing with them in a friendly way attracted all the praise of the students. The movie shows how an understanding teacher’s ways can work better than those of a disciplinarian.

2. Taare Zameen Par

Considering a young 8-year-old chap Ieshan lazy and lost in imagination, his father admitted him to a boarding school. He was mistreated by some teachers there and was broken. Aamir Khan, who acts as an art teacher, sees his talent and figures out he has dyslexia. He takes up his responsibility and helps him to overcome his disability.

3. Paathshaala

A new school teacher Rahul Prasad joined the school and found something wrong with the school and the education system. This movie is a good take on the shortcomings of the Indian education system. Rahul Prasad puts his efforts to unite the staff in opposition to school management due to their policy of putting more stress on the students.

4. Hichki

Rani Mukherji’s Hichki film revolves around the life of the teacher Naina Mathur, who suffers from Tourette Syndrome in which there is a fit of hiccups. This makes her a laughing stride among students, but Naina doesn’t give up. She persistently tried to improve the students and finally achieved her goal.

5. Black

Amitab Bachchan and Rani Mukerji’s movie Black showcased the real meaning of a teacher and a student. Michelle is a blind and deaf girl. Her mother takes help from Debraj Sahai. His harsh ways seem unacceptable in the beginning, but once Michelle’s parents see her progress, they realise there is no other way but to keep going with it. It portrays how hard a teacher tries to the growth of students and do justice to his profession.

6. Main Hoon Na

In the movie, Sharukh Khan joins the college as an undercover agent and has a crush on the Chemistry teacher, Sushmita Sen.

Some teasing from friends, College chit-chats in the canteen, SRK opening arms when he sees the teacher and the violins playing in the background are all that follow.

7. 3 Idiots

This film is all about three friends in an Engineering college. Their Dean is very strict, for whom grades matter the most. Amir Khan acts as Racho, who do not believe in bookish knowledge and believes in practical knowledge.
