Baru presses Jal Shakti officials for Infrastructure upgradation and regular water supply, demands overhead tank

JAMMU, May 10: BJP senior leader and JMC Councillor ward-41 Sanjay Kumar Baru presses Jal Shakti department for upgradation of infrastructure and regular water supplies during a meeting with Jal Shakti department city division-1 Executive Engineer Vijay Gupta, AEE Sham Kishore, JE Sr. Kulveer Singh and others officials at JMC Ward office Wazir lane.

Sanjay Baru while chairing the meeting of Jal Shakti Department said that the Modi government is working on the mission to ensure drinking water supply through individual household tap connections by 2024 to each and every home. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stressed that every resident must have easy access to all the basic amenities required.

Sanjay Baru said that the Jal Jeevan Mission by the Modi government would also implement source sustainability measures as mandatory elements, such as recharge and reuse through grey water management, water conservation, rain water harvesting. The Jal Jeevan Mission is based on a community approach to water and will include extensive Information, Education and communication as a key component of the mission, he added.

Baru said that to meet the drinking water needs of the locality; an overhead tank needs to be erected at an already existing tube well at Wazir lane. He also said that the old pipe must also be replaced from Patta Chowk to Anand Nagar and Wazir lane to up to Poonch House, Bharat Nagar.

Baru asked them to prepare DPRs for the above-mentioned work to provide a quick relief to the local residents in terms of drinking water supply.

He appreciated the works to the tune of rupees 10 Lakh works done by the Jal Shakti Department at Colonel Colony, Surya Vihar and Wazir Lane.
