Baramulla hosts multifarious events to kick-off the celebration of Digital J&K Week

Deptts to adopt seamless approach for greater transparency in Governance: DC Baramulla

BARAMULLA, August 31: In an effort to enhance online service delivery mechanism and expand internet accessibility among citizens to bring all front-end government services online, the Digital J&K Week celebration today took-off with the hosting of Digi Mela-2023 at Baramulla.On the occasion, a grand function was organized at Indoor Sports Stadium Baramulla wherein Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar in presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Zahoor Ahmad Raina, Assistant Commissioner Revenue and other concerned officers inaugurated the Digi Mela 2023 and took part in other series of activities at the venue.

The event witnessed massive public participation along with PRIs, students and civil society members.Addressing the gathering, Dr Sehrish highlighted the objective of celebrating Digital Week and said that the week-long event will showcase citizen centric IT initiatives that have helped in bringing about greater transparency in governance and ease of living for citizens besides generating awareness about digital solutions and new technologies.

On the occasion, the DC said that a Digital Programme has been launched across J&K with a vision to transform J&K into a digitally empowered society. She also exhorted the concerned department heads to activate their online services and promote them by organizing campaigns in coordination with District Administration during celebrations of the Digital Week.Later, Dr Sehrish paid inspection of various stalls installed by many departments including District Administration/Revenue Department,  Agriculture, Horticulture,  District Treasury,  Motor Vehicles Department,  District Industries Centre, banks and others to impart awareness to citizens about different government schemes and services being delivered through online mode so that they can avail benefits from all such public centric schemes.
