Baramulla celebrates ‘World Bicycle Day’ with enthusiastic Cycle Rally

BARAMULLA, JUNE 01: In a spirited celebration of World Bicycle Day, J&K Sports Council in collaboration with the Baramulla Sports Association organized a vibrant cycle rally today, drawing wide participation from the youth of the district.

The rally began at the Indoor Stadium Baramulla and concluded at Carriapa Park, with cyclists riding through the main streets of the town to spread awareness about fitness and sustainable living.

Rally aimed to promote the Fit India Movement and encourage cycling as a regular and eco-friendly mode of exercise. Young cyclists enthusiastically participated, highlighting the importance of physical activity for a healthier and more active lifestyle.

District Information Officer Baramulla, Iftikhar Naseem, graced the occasion as the chief guest, while President Baramulla Sports Association, Omar Kakroo, attended as the guest of honour. Other dignitaries present included Showkat Ahmad Shah, Manager Sports Council and I/C General Bipin Rawat.

Speaking on the occasion, dignitaries lauded the initiative and emphasized the multiple benefits of cycling not only as a fitness activity but also as a sustainable mode of transportation that contributes to environmental well-being. They urged the youth to adopt cycling as part of their daily routine and help build a healthier society.

Certificates of participation and refreshments were distributed among the cyclists at the culmination of the rally, adding to the cheerful atmosphere. Organizers also encouraged the public to observe ‘Sunday Cycling’ to make cycling a consistent habit.
