Awareness Rally to save Girl Child flagged-off in Kangan

GANDERBAL, FEBRUARY 14: A mega awareness rally was today organized to champion the cause of gender equality and saving the girl child through the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme from Girls Higher Secondary School Kangan which passed through its adjacent areas.

The rally, organized by the District Social Welfare Officer Ganderbal, Sahir Majeed in collaboration with DHEW Mission Shakti Ganderbal and the School Education Department Ganderbal, witnessed enthusiastic participation of almost 150 students from different schools, teachers, social activist Bilal Bhat, project coordinator of Women Helpline, and the team of DHEW Mission Shakti.

The BBBP scheme, which translates to ‘Save the girl child, educate the girl child,’ underscores the commitment of the Government to address gender discrimination and advance women’s empowerment across the nation.

The rally sought to raise awareness about the challenges faced by the girl child and highlight the significance of education in fostering a more equitable society.

During the rally, the team emphasized the multifaceted objectives of the BBBP scheme, which extend beyond education to challenge ingrained gender biases.

The initiative aims to catalyze a societal shift by fostering awareness about the inherent value of the girl child and promoting gender-neutral opportunities for growth and development.

Furthermore, the team drew attention to the comprehensive approach of the BBBP scheme in improving the efficacy of welfare services for girls.

By creating a supportive environment and dismantling systemic barriers, the initiative strives to ensure that every girl has access to education, healthcare, and opportunities for a brighter future.
