Awareness programme on BBBP held at Kupwara
KUPWARA, MAY 30: Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women (SHEW), under the Mission Shakti initiative of the Social Welfare deptt, Kupwara, today organized a mega awareness programme on the theme ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.’
The event was graced by DDC Mawar, Khursheed Ahmad Dar and Principal & Cluster Head, Sanzipora, Rakesh Kumar. Among others, TSWO Handwara and District Mission Coordinator, SHEW Kupwara, alongside members of civil society, students from various schools, and other key stakeholders attended the event.
The initiative aimed at creating awareness and encouraging the holistic development of young girls, fostering an environment of empowerment and equal opportunity.
A highlight of the event was the BBBP (Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao) pledge, taken collectively by all guests and attendees, reaffirming their commitment to the cause of girl child empowerment. Additionally, five saplings were planted to mark the occasion, symbolizing growth, sustainability, and a brighter future for the girls of the district.
As part of the programme, team SHEW distributed educational kits to female students from the scheduled tribe (ST) community, promoting education and inclusivity.
This initiative reflects the department’s ongoing commitment to raising awareness about gender equality and promoting the welfare and education of the girl child in Kupwara district.
