Animal Husbandry Department introduces Dairy Automatic Milk Collection Units in Ramban

RAMBAN, MARCH 15: The Animal Husbandry Department, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, has introduced a wide range of measures to promote sustainable livestock management practices to foster the socio-economic development of rural communities.

Through different initiatives and programmes, the department aims to enhance milk productivity and profitability in livestock farming, while ensuring animal welfare and environmental sustainability.

In a significant step towards enhancing dairy farming practices, the Animal Husbandry Department has unveiled two state-of-the-art Dairy Automatic Milk Collection Units (AMCU) each boasting a capacity of 500 liters. This initiative comes under the ambit of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) for the fiscal year 2023-24.

Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Dr. Suhail Kawoosa, informed that situated in Tanger Ramban, these AMCU installations mark a pioneering effort in the district, aimed at revolutionizing milk collection processes.

The project, spearheaded by the Department of Animal Husbandry, is a testament to the government’s commitment towards modernizing farming practices in the region by sponsoring two Self-Help Groups (SHGs) viz Sarfraz SHG and Bismillah SHG.

Comprising ten members each, these SHGs are registered under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). Through this collaboration, the Department aims to empower local communities while fostering sustainable dairy production.

Meanwhile, the Beneficiaries said that with the introduction of these AMCU units will ensure quality control besides generating more gainful job opportunities. Moreover, it represents a significant step towards achieving self-sufficiency in dairy production besides strengthening the rural economy.
