Animal Husbandry Department, Block Veterinary Officer Nubra Conducts Two-Day Health Checkup & Awareness Camp for Camels and Camel Herders at Hunder Sand Dunes

Nubra, June 14, 2025: The Animal Husbandry Department, Block Veterinary Officer Nubra, successfully conducted a two-day health checkup and awareness camp for camels and camel herders of Hunder Village at the Camel Safari site at Hunder Sand Dunes.

The team, consisting of Dr. Mutup Angmo (BVO Nubra), Dr. Roufal Hussan (LDO Nubra), Dr. Tsewang Youdol (MVU Nubra), along with other officials from BVO Nubra, examined a total of 208 camels for infectious and non-infectious diseases during this two-day camp.

During the camp, health certificates were issued for 183 camels deemed fit for camel safari at Hunder Sand Dunes. Camel herders also received valuable information on various health issues and their management. Additionally, all 208 camels were dewormed, and necessary first-aid medicines were distributed to the camel herders.
