BJP holds seminar on Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar
Jammu, 29 May 2025: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu & Kashmir, organized a seminar at the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, to commemorate the life and contributions of Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar, the revered Maratha queen.


BJP is organizing a series of programmes under ‘Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar’s 300th Birth Anniversary’ to educate party workers and the public about the remarkable life and enduring legacy of Ahilyabai Holkar.
The seminar commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp and the offering of floral tributes to the portrait of Ahilyabai Holkar by J&K BJP President Sat Sharma, General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul, General Secretary and MLA Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, General Secretary Adv. Vibodh Gupta (programme state convenor), former Minister Priya Sethi, Secretary Veenu Khanna, Mahila Morcha President Sanjita Dogra, and senior leaders Amar Singh and Reema Padha.
Sat Sharma, while paying tributes to the legendary queen, termed her tenure as unparalleled and ‘way ahead of her time’. He said that her reign was based on eternal values and the basics of Sanatan, which directed her every action towards the welfare of people, and nature alike.
“Ahilyabai, for whole of her life, served humanity with humility, and the same firmness is reflected in the working of PM Narendra Modi, whose every breath pledges more intensive work for public welfare especially the neglected and oppressed”, Sharma said.
“Rani Ahilyabai worked for women, widows, their rights and education, and PM Modi has ensured this through all these years”, said Sharma.
Ashok Koul spoke on the social, cultural and spiritual contributions of the Rani Ahilyabai Holkar. Rani Ahilyabai Holkar possessed a very sensitive attitude towards the issues and needs of the public as well as the employees. He enumerated her contributions in constructing temples, water reservoirs, Ghats, wells, Sarai in religious and spiritual sites like, Kashi, Somnath, Vishnupad (Bihar), Varanasi, Ellora, MP and other areas.
Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, said that Ahilyabai ji kept delivering good governance which should inspire present-day public representatives. He termed the regular 2-way interaction with the public to solve their issues. He said that her reign picturizes what the government and administration have to deliver for the welfare of the public.
Vibodh Gupta presented a detailed brief of the life and works of Ahilyabai Holkar and said that owing to her religious and spiritual works, as well as public welfare works, she came to be known as Punyashloka. He said that her life portrays a life’s journey from ‘Humble to Greatness’.
Sanjita Dogra provided an impactful overview of Ahilyabai’s spiritual depth and her advocacy for women’s rights, education, and the welfare of widows, issues that remain relevant even today.
Reema Padha conducted the seminar proceedings and Amar Singh presented the vote of thanks.
