ADGP Alok Kumar reviews preparedness of Civil Defence, SDRF at Jammu

JAMMU, MAY 29: After taking over additional Charge of the Commandant General Homegurads, Civil Defence and SDRF, Additional Director General of Police J&K Alok Kumar, on his maiden visit to Jammu, chaired a review meeting in his Jammu office here the other day.


The meeting was attended by officers of SDRF, Homeguards & Civil defence, wherein threadbare discussions were held on CD preparedness, awareness programmes, conduct of simulated exercises & CD training modules for different stakeholders.


Stock position of available CD tools and deficiency also came up for the discussion and necessary instructions were given to all stakeholders to remain ready to respond to any natural, man-made disaster anytime. Stress was laid on co-ordinated efforts of NDRF, civil defence volunteers, village Homeguards volunteers and Fire and emergency services.


Continuing his programme of interaction with the Officers/Jawans of SDRF 2nd Bn today, the Commandant General also inspected Guard of Honour organised in his honour at Bn. Hqrs. He participated in the farewell function of Gurvinder Kour, Dy. SP SDRF 2nd Bn. who is attaining superannuation on May 31,-2025 after rendering unblemished service of 34 yrs.


Reiterating that the retired police officers are our veterans, he pitched for hosting half yearly conferences of retired police officials to keep them roped in and to take advantage of their working experience for civil defence activities.
DIG, CD, HG & SDRF/Director CD and HG Mohammed Arshad supervised the interaction programme.
Stress was laid on continued efforts to rope in more volunteers for playing a co-ordinated and effective role in dealing with the situation arising out of man-made/ natural disasters.


Others who participated in these activities included Manzoor Hussain Dy. SP; Dinesh Gupta Dy. SP; Tajinder Kour Dy. Sp; Naseem Akhter Choudhary Dy. SP; Dev Raj Dy. SP and Ziaul-Haq Dy. SP and other officers/men of Fire and emergency services and SDRF.
