ADC leads anti-drug awareness campaign at Peer Kho Temple

JAMMU, JUNE 10: District Administration Jammu today organised a comprehensive “Nasha Mukti” awareness programme at Peer Kho Temple as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu initiative to combat drug menace in the region.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Ansuya Jamwal, who was the Chief Guest at the event, highlighted the administration’s sustained efforts at grassroots level towards eradication of drug menace. “We have been conducting focused sessions at panchayat and ward levels,” ADC stated adding “We must not assume drug abuse affects only others. It can enter our homes unnoticed. Before it reaches our doorstep, we must act, spread awareness and take precautions.”

Earlier, the programme commenced with a theme based song presented by the artists from the Department of Information & Public Relations. The DIPR artists presented a compelling folk act that resonated with the audience, urging them to remain vigilant and protect the youth from falling prey to drug addiction. Additionally, a street play was performed by artists of DIPR on the theme of drug awareness.

SHO Police Station Pacca Danga, Rakesh Jamwal, along with senior officials from Education, Health, Social Welfare, District Red Cross Society participated in the event.

The gathering witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, parents, community leaders and government officials. Participants took a collective pledge to spread the message of drug refusal and maintain community-level vigilance against the drug menace.

Concluding the programme, the ADC emphasised that combating drug abuse is a community battle requiring everyone’s active participation. She called for unity and proactive action to protect the youth and ensure a drug-free society.
