ADC Jammu reviews Muharram arrangements

JAMMU, JUNE 24: Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Ansuya Jamwal today chaired a meeting to review the arrangements for the Muharram processions and related congregations.

The meeting was attended by Dy. SP Traffic City Jammu Anubhuti, SE PWD Sunil Gandotra, ExEn JPDCL Avneet Gupta and AK Chibber, Information Officer Monika, Health Officer JMC Dr Vinod Sharma, besides other concerned officers. Representatives of various religious bodies also participated in the meeting and shared their inputs.

During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held regarding security, traffic management, sanitation, health care, power and water supply and other necessary arrangements to ensure the peaceful and smooth conduct of Muharram observances.

The Police and Traffic departments were directed to ensure adequate deployment of personnel to implement traffic diversions and crowd management along the designated procession routes.

The Jammu Municipal Corporation was asked to deploy additional sanitation staff and ensure cleanliness along the procession routes. Arrangements for water tankers and waste management were also discussed.

The Health Department was directed to keep ambulances and medical teams on standby. Emergency medical arrangements will be made at key locations during major processions.

The PHE and PDD departments were instructed to ensure uninterrupted supply of water and electricity during the observances. Street lighting and drainage systems are also being checked and repaired wherever necessary.

The ADC stressed on close inter-departmental coordination for effective implementation of all arrangements. Nodal officers have been designated from each department to monitor and respond to any emerging issues.

The administration assured full support to the organisers and participants while appealing to the public to cooperate with the authorities and adhere to the prescribed guidelines and routes.

Representatives of religious bodies were requested to coordinate with the administration for smooth conduct of congregations.

The district administration reiterated its commitment to ensure that Muharram is observed with dignity, safety and communal harmony.
