ADC Jammu reviews Eid-ul-Adha preparations

JAMMU, JUNE 01: Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Ansuya Jamwal, today chaired a meeting to review and finalise arrangements for the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha celebration in the district.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner General Sana Haq Khan, Assistant Director Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Santosh Kumar, Sanitation Officer Dr. Vinod Kumar, Executive Engineers from Jal Shakti and PDD, Tehsildars, officers from Police and Traffic Departments and other concerned officials. Representatives of religious and social organizations also participated in the discussions.


ADC Ansuya Jamwal emphasised the need for close inter-departmental coordination to ensure smooth, safe and hassle-free celebration of the festival. She directed concerned departments to ensure adequate water and electricity supply, especially in areas where large congregational prayers are expected. She also called for timely repairs of streetlights and water pipelines wherever required.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation was instructed to carry out special sanitation drives in and around mosques, Eidgahs and public areas and to ensure prompt garbage clearance during the festival days.


The FCS&CA and Legal Metrology departments were tasked with conducting regular market inspections to keep a check on overpricing, hoarding and sale of substandard food items.
Officials were asked to ensure hygiene in the storage and sale of mutton and perishable goods, particularly in temporary meat stalls.
Security and traffic management arrangements were also reviewed. Police authorities were asked to remain vigilant, deploy additional personnel near major religious sites and issue necessary advisories to the public for smooth vehicular movement.


Religious leaders and community representatives appreciated the efforts of the district administration and gave some suggestions as well.
The ADC assured full administrative support and urged citizens to cooperate with local authorities to celebrate Eid in an atmosphere of peace, harmony and brotherhood.
