NSF Legends outclass Press Club XI to claim 2nd Trimurti Balidan T20 Cricket Cup

Jammu:29-03-24: NSF Legends played brilliantly and outclassed Press Club Jammu XI to lift the winner’s Cup of Second Trimurti Balidan Cricket T20 Tournament, the final of which was played today at Jammu University Ground, here.

Former member BCCI and Joint Secretary JKNC, Ankush Abrol was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony. Dr. Vikas Sharma Zonal Secretary JKNC, Presided over the function.

Sr. Journalist Vishal Bharti, Gobind Chouchan and Dinesh Mahajan were the guest of honour.

This was stated by Ankush Abrol, while paying tributes to great leaders who have sacrificed their lives in making India free from British rulers.

He appreciated the National Secular Forum (NSF) for organizing such events which promote a sense of competitiveness among youth and also an occasion to pay befitting tributes to the martyr trio of Indian freedom struggle.

While lavishing praise on the organisers for holding the event in a fabulous way in the memory of great soldiers of the nation. He said such events serve a twin purpose of promoting sports and enhancing peace, integrity and harmony.

Also speaking, Dr Vikas Sharma appreciated the sportsmanship of all the participating teams. He mentioned that the tournament was being organized every year by the National Secular Forum (NSF) to pay homage to the great martyrs who laid down their lives in the prime of their youth.

The tournament is being held under the overall supervision of Vikshay Vashist, Secretary of NSF who is being assisted by Mohd. Umar Farooq President University Unit, Abhishek Uppal, Roshan Sharma, Vineet Gupta and Aditya Kargotra Working President University Unit.

Earlier, Press Club XI won the toss and elected to bat first. In stipulated 20 overs, Press Club batsmen put a score of 150 runs on the scoreboard. The disciplined bowling of NSF Legends was spearheaded by Dr. Vikas Sharma who claimed 3 wickets giving away just 14 runs in a spell of 3 overs. Ashok and Danish also claimed 2 wickets apiece.

For Press Club, Rajesh Sharma was the top scorer who made a fighting 55 runs. He was ably supported by few others but could not convert starts into big scores.

NSF chased the required total in 16.3 overs scoring 153 runs. Vishal was adjudged man of the match for playing a brilliant innings of 48 in just 28 deliveries.  Rupesh Kumar was adjudged as Man of the Series for delivering outstanding performances throughout the tournament.

The proceedings of the valedictory function were conducted by Vikshay, while Dr Vishal singh presented vote of thanks.
