DC Reasi distributes aids, appliances to specially abled persons

REASI, JUNE 20: Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik today inaugurated an aids and appliance distribution camp for persons with special needs. The event, organized by the Social Welfare Department Reasi in collaboration with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), aimed to enhance mobility and independence for differently-abled individuals across the region.

At the camp, approximately 112 pre-assessed beneficiaries received various assistive devices and prosthetic aids, including motorized tricycles, simple tricycles, hearing aids, elbow crutches, waist belts, knee braces, sensor walking sticks, and regular walking sticks.

The initiative formed part of the ongoing series of camps being held in the district to facilitate PwDs. To date, five such camps have been organized in different parts of the district, collectively benefiting over 500 individuals.

The Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of such initiatives in improving the quality of life of persons with special needs. “These camps play a significant role in empowering individuals to manage daily challenges and move closer to achieving their personal aspirations,” she said. She further emphasized the need to organize similar camps more frequently to ensure broader outreach and impact.

The DC also commended the efforts of ALIMCO and the Social Welfare Department Reasi for their dedication to the cause and assured that the District Administration would continue to provide full support to initiatives aimed at uplifting people with special needs.
