4- Day free appliances distribution camp concludes at Udhampur
UDHAMPUR, JUNE 20: The four day free aids and appliances distribution camp for specially abled persons under Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/Fitting of Aids/Appliances (ADIP) scheme and senior citizens under Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) scheme organized by Social Welfare Department and ALIMCO concluded in Udhampur today.
District Development Council Chairman Lal Chand, MLA Udhampur West Pawan Kumar Gupta attended the valedictory event.
District Social Welfare Officer Kanika Gupta presented the welcome address and apprised them about the details of the camp. A solemn Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan pledge was also taken by the participants.
A total of 1291 devices were handed over to 493 beneficiaries costing around Rs. 38 lacs in 4 day camp.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC Chairman and MLA congratulated the beneficiaries and applauded the efforts of the Social Welfare Department for serving the needy people. They distributed motorized tricycle, artificial limbs, wheelchairs, hearing aids and cane sticks among the beneficiaries. They also directed the department to organize such camps at regular intervals to cover all the left out persons in need of such applainces.
The program witnessed the gathering of around 400 people including team from Artificial Limbs Organization of India, staff of Social Welfare and beneficiaries.
