Veteran Trade Leader Sadiq Baqal & Parents Urge J&K Govt and MEA, Govt of India For Immediate Safe Evacuation of Kashmiri Students From Conflict-Hit Iran
Srinagar, 15 June, 2025: Veteran senior trade leader Mohammad Sadiq Baqal, along with distressed parents of residents from Jammu & Kashmir currently in Iran for studies, business or employment, has made an urgent appeal to the Government of Jammu and Kashmir led By Omar Abdullah, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Govt. of India, Dr. S. Jaishankar to take immediate steps for the safe evacuation of Indian students, professionals and businessmen stranded in Iran amid the escalating war-like situation.

Sadiq Baqal expressed deep concern over the deteriorating security conditions in Iran and called on the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, to act swiftly. “Families across the country are gripped with anxiety. Many of our children are either studying or working in Iran and they want to return home safely. The government must initiate necessary arrangements without delay,”.
Parents of Kashmiri students currently enrolled in Iranian universities highlighted that their children have been following all advisories issued by the Indian Embassy and have duly registered as per MEA guidelines. However, recent overnight blasts and growing regional tensions have created a wave of panic among the students.
“We are extremely concerned about our children’s safety and mental well-being. The situation is becoming alarming. It is crucial to initiate safe evacuation efforts now, before it becomes too late,” the parents said in a joint appeal.
They further urged the J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah & Government of India to respond with the same urgency and efficiency that it demonstrated during past evacuations from Ukraine and other global conflict zones. “We appreciate the government’s commitment to safeguarding Indian citizens abroad and trust that the same proactive measures will be taken in this case as well.”
The families collectively appealed for humanitarian consideration and swift diplomatic intervention to ensure that all Indian nationals in Iran are brought back safely to their homeland.
