Congress burns effigy, Holds Massive Protest Against Vikram Randhawa’s Derogatory Remarks on Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi

Jammu, June 04, 2025: The Jammu & Kashmir Congress today held a massive protest against BJP leader and MLA Vikram Randhawa for his deeply derogatory and shameful remarks against UPA Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi and AICC General Secretary Smt. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra & against the dignity & faith of all  women.

In a strong display of outrage, ‘an effigy of Vikram Randhawa was burnt in the protest led by senior Congress women leaders”, symbolizing the anger and hurt caused by his offensive language.

Joined by Senior PCC leaders, the women leaders raised powerful slogans and demanded that BJP high command should apologise  from CPP Chairperson Sonia ji and Priyanka Gandhi for the derogatory utterances of Vikram Randhawa besides action against  him.

His remarks are , not  only outrageous and shameful to Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, but to every woman of the country. They called his remarks an insult to the dignity of Indian women and an attack on the values that define Indian society. 

Addressing the press, **Namrta Sharma, senior Congress leader**, condemned the remarks in the strongest terms and demanded the ‘immediate suspension of Vikram Randhawa’. She stated, . Sonia Gandhi Ji lost her husband,  former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, in service of this nation . The sindoor she wears is not a symbol of tradition alone, but a mark of sacrifice, courage, and devotion to India. Mixing such sacred sentiments with your dirty political agenda reflects the moral bankruptcy of BJP leaders like Randhawa.

Zahida Khan also condemned the remarks, stating that such language has no place in any civilised society.

PCC working President Raman Bhalla Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma and Ex MLC Ved Parkash Mahajan led slogans condemning the BJP’s regressive and misogynistic mindset. They called upon the BJP high command to issue a public apology and take strict action against Vikram Randhawa to prevent further erosion of political discourse. 

Prominent senior women leaders who joined the protest included Smt. Kanta Bhan, Inderjeet Kour Ex Corporator Parveen Akhtar, Anuradha Sharma, and Vimla Slathia all of whom expressed their deep outrage and solidarity with Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi as well as women of country. 

The Congress Party reaffirmed its commitment to standing with its women  and vowed to continue raising its voice against all attempts to degrade women and pollute the political discourse with such indecent rhetoric remarks.

Prominent leaders who joined protest included  S/Shri Narinder Sharma,  Satish Sharma, Amrit Bali, Sanjeev Panda, Ch Dwarka, Vijay Shastri, Neeraj Gupta, Sahil Sharma,  Rajveer Singh Balbir Balli Ex corporator, Sonu Dogra. Ricky Dalotra, Bhavishya Sudan, Sohit Sharma, Vijay Chib,Latish Sharma,  Rakesh Sharma, Raj Kumar Sodhi,Bodh Raj Sharma  & several others.
