Zonal Level Inter-School Tournament for Middle Schools Concludes in Khaltse
Khaltse, June 4, 2025: The Zonal Level Inter-School Tournament for Middle Schools (Boys & Girls) of the Khaltse zone concluded today at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Khaltse. The event was organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), Leh.
A total of 250 students, both boys and girls, from various government and private middle schools of the Khaltse zone participated in the tournament.
Incharge Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Khaltse, Asgar Ali, graced the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest, while the Incharge Principal of GHSS Khaltse, Tashi Angchok was the Guest of Honour. Other distinguished guests present included Naib Tehsildar Temisgam, Mohd Iqbal; Ex-Councillor, Tsering Murup; and Headmaster GMS Saspol, Lobzang Zotpa.
Addressing the gathering, SDM Asgar Ali emphasized the significance of co-curricular activities alongside academics. He encouraged students to actively engage in sports to develop their personalities, foster teamwork, and instill dedication. He further informed the students that those who qualify at the zonal level will advance to compete at the District, State, and National levels. He also commended DYSSO Leh, Tsering Tashi, and all Physical Education Teachers for successfully organizing the tournament. During the event, Incharge DYSS Leh, Stanzin Phelgais, delivered a welcome speech and expressed gratitude to SDM Khaltse for his support. He also thanked all relevant departments for their coordination in ensuring the successful conduct of the tournament.
The students participated in various sports including Archery, Handball, and Volleyball, along with track events such as the 100 Metres and 3000 Metres Races.
The final Handball match was played between Lamdon Jamyang School Khaltse (Boys) and Lotsawa Lamdon School Temisgum (Boys) and Lamdon Jamyang School Khaltse emerged victorious against Lotsawa Lamdon School Temisgam with a score of 11-05.
Prizes, medals, and certificates were distributed to winners and participants by SDM Asgar Ali and other dignitaries. The event also featured a dance performance by school students, adding a vibrant cultural touch to the ceremony. The teaching staff of GHSS Khaltse, DYSS officials, and Physical Education Teachers were present during the event, contributing to its successful execution.
Furthermore, the Zonal Level Inter-School Tournament for Higher Secondary and High Schools of the Khaltse zone is scheduled to begin from June 5, 2025, at the GHSS Khaltse playground and will continue in the coming days.
