Is SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered Crossplay?

SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered is finally here, and if you grew up on classic RPGs or just love beautifully told stories, this is a big moment. The game first launched way back in 1999 on the original PlayStation, and now, after all these years, it’s back and looking better than ever.

But there’s one question on a lot of people’s minds: Can you play it across different platforms? In other words, is it crossplay? Let’s clear things up.

What’s New in the Remastered Version?

So first, what is SaGa Frontier 2?

It’s the eighth game in Square Enix’s long-running SaGa series, a beautifully crafted RPG set in a fantasy world called Sandail. The setting has a medieval European feel, with place and character names inspired by old Germanic and Anglo-Saxon culture. It’s all very story-rich and emotional.

You actually get to follow two different characters:

Gustave XIII – a prince who’s been exiled and is trying to reclaim his throne
William Knights – a curious young man trying to uncover the truth behind his parents’ deaths.

Their paths eventually connect, and the result is an epic story about war, legacy, and fate.

On March 27, 2025, during a surprise Nintendo Direct, Square Enix shocked fans by announcing SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered and releasing it on the same day! Total mic-drop moment.

Is SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered Crossplay?

Unfortunately, SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered does not support crossplay at the moment. It does not feature any co-op or multiplayer modes.

Since there’s no crossplay availability in the game, it means you won’t be able to play together across different platforms. You are bound to play solo since the game comes only in single-player mode.

Is SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered Cross Progression?

Unfortunately, there’s no cross progression or cross save support in SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered. This means that you won’t be able to save your in-game progress and transfer it to different platforms.

So, if you are playing on PC and wish to switch to Nintendo Switch to play the game, then you’ll have to start fresh, and all your previous progress will be lost.
