Walkathon held to raise awareness on Hypertension in Kupwara

KUPWARA, MAY 22: A Walkathon aimed at raising awareness about hypertension and promoting a healthy lifestyle was organized today in Kupwara.


The marathon was flagged-off by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kupwara, Gulzar Ahmad, from the D.C Office Complex Kupwara.


The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from school children, healthcare workers, and members of the general public. Chief Medical Officer Kupwara, Dr. Ramzan; Chief Education Officer, Mehraj-u-Din Shah; Medical Superintendent SDH Kupwara, Liaison Officer Youth Services & Sports Kupwara and other concerned officials were also present at the flag-off ceremony.


Participants carried placards with messages encouraging blood pressure control and healthy living. The marathon started from the DC office and passed through General Bus Stand Kupwara and Lolab Bypass, and finally concluded at Zangli Park.


On the occasion, ADC, CMO, CEO and other medical experts underscored the importance of hypertension awareness and advocated for proactive measures to maintain a healthy lifestyle.


The event was part of an ongoing campaign to engage the community in public health initiatives and foster better awareness around non-communicable diseases like hypertension.
