BJP pays rich tributes to Shri Bhagwat Swarup Ji, performs Hawan on his 100th birth anniversary
Jammu, 22 May 2025: On the occasion of 100th birth anniversary of Shri Bhagwat Swarup ji, who served selflessly for more than six decades in various positions, especially as Organization Secretary in Praja Parishad, Bharatiya Jana Sangh and BJP, Bharatiya Janata Party, Jammu & Kashmir paid rich tributes to him at the party Headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.

A Hawan was also performed on the occasion, praying to the Almighty for the Moksha to the great soul and for the peace and prosperity in the region.
Sat Sharma, President, J&K BJP, Ashok Koul, General Secretary (organization), Jugal Kishore Sharma, MP (Lok Sabha), Dr. Nirmal Singh, and Kavinder Gupta, former Deputy Chief Ministers, Sham Lal Sharma, Vice-President and MLA, Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, General Secretary and MLA, Ch. Vikram Randhawa, and Mohan Lal, MLAs, Priya Sethi, former Minister, Adv. Chander Mohan Sharma, senior leader and other senior leaders paid tributes to the great soul on the occasion.
Goutam Mengi, Shiv Kumar Gupta, Ashok Braru, Naresh Kattal, Govind Sareen, were among the prominent social personalities to attend the tribute programme.
The event was coordinated and managed by Prof. Kulbhushan Mohtra, State Incharge, Department of Nanaji Deshmukh Library, BJP. He narrated inspirational anecdotes from Shri Bhagwat Swarup ji’s life, highlighting his tireless commitment to organizational development and nationalist causes.
Sat Sharma, while paying tributes to Bhagwat Swaroop ji, said that today, the BJP is observing the 100th birth anniversary of a legendary hero who lived for others and not for himself. He dedicated his whole life to the welfare of the party. Coming from Punjab, served as the organizational secretary of Praja Parishad, Bharatiya Janata Party, and Pracharak, he consistently served the nation and the society with utmost passion. We all must learn selfless service from his life. The life of Swaroop ji will serve as a beacon to all, he said.
Ashok Koul shared the life history and the important instances from the life of Bhagwat Swaroop ji. He shared the close association of Bhagwat ji with Pt. Prem Nath Dogra and the contributions of Bhagwat ji in all the major agitations including ‘Ek Pradhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Samvidhan’ in the Jammu region, which resulted into the abolition of Permit System. Bhagwat ji devoted his life for the service of the society and Nation with the sole purpose of uniting people to strengthen the Nationalist forces, he added.
Dr. Nirmal Singh termed Bhagwat ji as an ideal ‘Swayam Sewak’. Bhagwat ji served at various posts which he served with pure dedication. He lived his life as a mission for the welfare of the nation, society and the acquaintances.
Kavinder Gupta shared old memories and said that Bhagwat ji served his all responsibilities with pure dedication earning his name in history. Bhagwat ji served exemplarily in the troubled and difficult times.
Chander Mohan Sharma said that Bhagwat ji dedicatedly worked for the society during his entire life. He said that Bhagwat ji had secured a niche in others’ hearts with his love and care for every individual.
Shiv Kumar Gupta and Ashok Braru threw light on the excellent relation of Bhagwat ji with all the acquaintances. They also highlighted the emphasis of Bhagwat ji on keeping closer relations within the functionaries of organization.
The programme concluded with the distribution of Prasad among the attendees.
