United Against Drugs: Social Welfare, YSS lead NMBA Campaign across Kishtwar Panchayats

KISHTWAR, MAY 19: In a significant move to combat drug abuse, the District Social Welfare and District Youth Services & Sports Departments, organized an extensive awareness campaign under the “Nasha Mukti Bharat Abhiyan” (NMBA) across several of this mountainous district.

With the slogan “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life,” the campaign reached out to panchayats of Lohidar A, Lohidar B, Gar Thalarn, Patnazi B, Lower Palmar C, as well as GHSS Thumb Ishtyari Paddar, GHSS Sounder, and MS Sounder Dachhan.

A range of impactful activities marked the campaign, including awareness rallies, motivational talks, poster and banner exhibitions, student-led skits, and interactive community sessions.

The events witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, local youth clubs, PRI members, and civil society representatives.

Officials underscored the pivotal role of education and sports in steering youth away from harmful habits. Representatives from the Social Welfare Department discussed various government schemes, helplines, and rehabilitation services available under NMBA, while Youth Services & Sports officials highlighted the availability of district-wide sports and talent development initiatives designed to engage and inspire local youth.

The campaign culminated in a collective pledge by all attendees to foster a drug-free society and champion the NMBA message within their communities.
