Ex-Servicemen meet DC Poonch, offer voluntary Support for emergency services, project demands

POONCH, MAY 17: A delegation of Ex-Servicemen led by District President Subedar Major (Retd) Akhlaq Khan and District Vice President Captain (Retd) Mohammad Shokat Choudhary today met Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal to discuss implementation of welfare schemes for army veterans and extend their voluntary support for disaster and emergency services.


The delegation projected several pressing demands, including the construction of individual and community bunkers in border areas, better medical facilities and other welfare measures for retired personnel and their families.
In a significant gesture of service and solidarity, the delegation also expressed their willingness to assist the administration during natural disasters, emergencies, and the border crisis in collaboration with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). Many ex-servicemen have already submitted their names as volunteers at the office of the Zila Sainik Welfare Officer, Poonch.
The Deputy Commissioner assured them of full cooperation and lauded their continued commitment to national service, even after retirement. He emphasized that their experience and discipline are invaluable assets to the district administration.
This meeting underscores the dedication of ex-servicemen to both national and local welfare and marks a meaningful step toward closer coordination between veterans and civil authorities in Poonch.
