Pakistan’s Compensation to Terrorist Families Is a State-Endorsed Terrorism: Pawan Sharma
Urges IMF and Global Institutions to Reassess Financial Aid to Pakistan
Jammu, 16 May 2025: Senior BJP leader and former State Secretary BJP J&K, Pawan Sharma, has strongly condemned the Government of Pakistan for announcing compensation to the families of terrorists eliminated during India’s counter-terror operations. He termed the move “a clear act of state-sponsored terrorism” and accused Pakistan’s leadership, especially Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, of openly encouraging extremist violence and threatening peace in the region.
Pawan Sharma further stated that Pakistan’s decision to provide financial compensation to terrorists and their families is highly reprehensible. This move can be perceived as promoting terrorism and undermining global efforts to combat it. Many countries, including India, have long advocated for a more decisive approach to tackling terrorism. Providing financial support to terrorists can be viewed as a form of state sponsorship, which can have serious implications for regional and global security.
“Pakistan has once again exposed itself as a sanctuary for terror. By providing funds to the families of militants, it is not only glorifying violence but also making a mockery of international peace efforts,” said Sharma.
He called upon the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and other global financial institutions to re-evaluate ongoing and future bailout packages to Pakistan.
“The international community cannot allow its funds—meant for economic stabilization and humanitarian relief—to be diverted towards supporting terrorism. It is imperative that institutions like the IMF closely monitor the use of funds, and suspend all financial aid until Pakistan is held accountable for financing extremist activities,” he said.
Sharma warned that such financial misuse undermines global counter-terrorism objectives and endangers regional peace, particularly in Jammu & Kashmir. He urged the Government of India to raise the issue at multilateral platforms and expose Pakistan’s duplicity.
He concluded by reaffirming the BJP’s full support to India’s armed forces and its unyielding stance against terrorism, emphasizing that the nation will stand firm against any act that threatens its sovereignty and integrity.
