KC Public School students shine at Dharohar Fest at SKV Gwalior
Sixteen students of KCPS made a mark in the 8th edition of the prestigious Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Dharohar Festival which was hosted at Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya, Gwalior recently. The cultural festival was a celebration of India’s diverse heritage, and this year, it proudly showcased the vibrant traditions of Assam as its theme state.

The festival was graced by Dr. B. Kalyan Chakravarty, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Assam, who was the Chief Guest for the occasion where participating schools from across the country joined the event namely Birla Public school, Pilani ,DPS Pathankot, L.K. Singhania Education Centre, Gotan, Mayo College Girls School, Ajmer, Sunbeam School, Mughalsarai, The Assam Valley School etc. creating a lively atmosphere on the beautiful SKV campus, where peacocks and peahens freely roamed, adding to the charm of the surroundings. KC Public School was proudly represented by sixteen girls from classes 9th to 12th with escort teacher Ms. Shobhna Sethi, cultural coordinator of the school.
The three days festival commenced with a mesmerizing performance of Sattriya Nritya, a classical dance form of Assam rooted in devotional storytelling introduced by Srimanta Sankardev in the 15th century. Among the art events, the Gamusha Chitron segment stood out as Sanvi Rajput and Avnee Bhagotra showcased their artistic creativity through unique interpretations of the traditional Assamese cloth motif. In Puthi Chitrankon, Aashvi Sharma and Aeishna Sharma impressed with their attention to detail and thematic depth. Another engaging visual art event was Watercolor on Paper, in which Kamakshi Verma participated enthusiastically showcasing the beautiful sights of Kaziranga National park. Nividha Singh and Abida Jain represented their school with powerful performances that fused mythological themes and traditional Assamese melodies.
Culinary arts were celebrated in the Rondhon Shoili segment, where Anadika Pandoh and Kavya Mahajan showcased the rich food culture of Assam. A wide array of vegetarian dishes made with local ingredients were prepared in authentic Assamese style-delicacies like Dahi Chiwda, Pitha, Bhaja, and Potato Pitika delighted both the palate and the senses.The Assamese Folk Dance Competition was a grand and colorful celebration. Eight students – Anvesha Sharma, Mokshita Bangar, Bhavika singh, Saanvi Rajput, Chitrangna sharma, Aryn Gupta, Aashriya Anand and Kavya Mahajan delivered captivating performances of Bihu, capturing the energetic rhythm and joyous spirit of Assam’s folk traditions.
The 8th Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Dharohar Festival was a beautiful amalgamation of tradition, talent, and togetherness.
