SMVDU and Punjab Engineering College (PEC) forge Path of Academic and Research Collaboration: MoU Signing Ceremony Marks Milestone
In a landmark event nurturing academic collaboration and innovation, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra and Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh joined hands in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) ceremony held at the prestigious SMVDU premises on April 27, 2024.
The event was graced by the Registrar, Deans and Heads of the school from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi university highlighting the commitment of SMVDU towards fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and academic excellence. The ceremony witnessed the esteemed presence of the Director Prof. Baldev Setia and delegation from Punjab Engineering College (PEC), highlighting the significance of the occasion. The ceremony commenced with opening remarks by the esteemed Vice-Chancellor of SMVDU, Prof. Pragati Kumar, setting the tone for an event filled with promise, collaboration, and innovation. In his address, Prof. Pragati Kumar articulated the significance of the partnership between SMVDU and PEC, emphasizing the potential for synergistic collaboration to drive academic and research endeavours to new heights. Dr. Shafaq Rasool, Associate Dean Academic Affairs, SMVDU, captivated the audience with a comprehensive presentation offering insights into the rich academic tapestry of SMVDU. A brief overview of different programs being offered at SMVDU and introduction of new programs like B.Tech (Biotechnology), Bachelor of Design (B. Des), B. Tech in Mathematics and Computing, Design your Degree program and offering B. Tech (Honors) and B. Tech with Minor specializations from Academic session 2024-2025 at SMVDU was discussed and Director PEC applauded the SMVDU Vice Chancellor for introducing these programs keeping in view the evolving educational scenario and attaining the vision of Atam Nirbhar Bharat. The comprehensive presentation offering insights into the overview of PEC was delivered by Dean, Research of PEC, Prof. Arun Kumar and Professor R.S. Walia, the distinguished representative from PEC, served as the gracious host and facilitator of PEC’s participation in the event.
With the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by Professor Pragati Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of SMVDU, and Professor Baldev Setia, Director PEC, among other eminent delegates, doors have been opened for cooperation between the two illustrious institutions. Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor of SMVDU expressed his hopes for collaborative PhD programs, praising the potential for new ideas and collaboration that such endeavours could inspire. With the signing of the MoU, students pursuing different programs at both institutions stand to benefit from enhanced opportunities for cross-institutional collaboration, enriching their academic journey and preparing them for the challenges of the modern world. The ceremony’s closing remarks by Prof. Balbir Singh, Dean Academic Affairs of SMVDU echoed the spirit of togetherness in diversity and the drive for greatness, signalling the start of a new age in academic collaboration as well as the formalities of a new relationship.
