Lok Adalat settles over two thousand cases in Samba
SAMBA, SEPTEMBER 09: Under the insightful directions of Justice Tashi Rabstan, Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority and also under the radiant guidance of Yesh Paul Kotwal, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Samba (also Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Samba), 3rd National LokAdalat of the calendar year 2023 was held today at ADR, Centre, District Court Complex Samba.
The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Yesh Paul Kotwal, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Samba (also Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Samba)
Six Benches for settling the referred cases(both Pre and Post Litigation) were constituted at District Court Complex Samba.
Bench No.1 consisted of Yesh Paul Kotwal, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Samba (also Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Samba)and Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Samba; Bench No.2 consisted of Adnan Sayeed, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Samba and Himani Parihar, Munsiff, Samba; Bench No. 3 was comprised of Preet Simran Kour, Chief Judicial Magistrate Samba and Urvashi Raina, Addl. Munsiff, Samba, while Bench No. 4 included Ananta Raina, Addl. Spl. Mobile Magistrate, Samba and Shammi Kumar, ARTO Samba.
The matters placed before the Benches included Civil, Criminal Compoundable, Cheque Bounce, Bank Recovery matters, MACT, Matrimonial, Pre-litigation matters, D.V. Act, Negotiable Instrument Act, 125 Cr.Pc., and Petty Offence(s) including traffic challans. Beside this two more Benches were constituted for settling Revenue Cases, Cases under Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006, all cases of petty loans pending in all revenue Courts including the Courts of Tehsildar of District Samba, all Petty Public Utility Services related Cases, all Compensation Cases pending in the Courts of Assistant Labour Commissioner Samba.
Besides, Bench No 5 consisted Suresh Chander Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner Samba and Mohit Gupta, Tehsildar Samba; Bench no. 6 included Amil Khateeb, Assistant Labour Commissioner Samba and Pawan Bhatti, Labour Officer, Samba.
Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Samba coordinated the National LokAdalat organized at ADR Centre, District Court Complex Samba.
A total number of 2305 cases were taken up for their amicable settlement out of which 2070 cases were settled and an amount of Rs. 21993807 was realized as settlement amount.
Besides this, District Legal Services Authority Samba also organized a Legal Awareness program on ‘’LokAdalats; Strategic Forum For Speedy Justice’’ for the students of Dogra Law College Bari Brahamana, Samba at Conference Hall, ADR Centre wherein Yesh Pal KotwalWorthy Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Samba (also Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Samba) was the chief guest for today’s programme who in his presidential address highlighted the scope of Lokadalats for the amicable settlement of disputes. He also sensitized the participants about the benefits and significance of Alternate Dispute Redressal i.e. (ADR) Mechanisms in resolving disputes and fostering a culture of peaceful resolution. Adnan Sayeed, Addl. District & Sessions Judge Samba also spoke on the occasion. Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Samba presented the welcome address whereas the vote of thanks was presented by Versha Anthal, Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsel.
The proceedings of the program were conducted by Tania Pargal, Panel Advocate, District Legal Services Authority Samba. The awareness program was also attended by all other Judicial Officers, President Bar Association Samba, Officers of the Prosecution Wing, Senior Advocates, Officers of Legal Aid Defence Counsel System, Panel Adovcates of DLSA Samba, faculty members and students from Dogra Law College Bari Brahamana, staff members and workforce of District Legal Services Authority Samba.
A light refreshment was also served to the participants at the end of the programme.
