Rajya Sabha adjourned sine die
New Delhi [India], August 11 (ANI): The Rajya Sabha was adjourned sine die on Friday, wrapping up the monsoon session which witnessed several disruptions over the Manipur violence issue.
Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, after his customary address, adjourned the House sine die.
The monsoon session of Parliament, which commenced on July 20, was to end on August 11.
In this session, a total of five bills were introduced in the Upper House, while 25 bills were passed. One bill was also withdrawn.
As the session was marred by disruptions over the Manipur violence issue, the productivity rate stood at 65 per cent.
Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha was suspended on Friday from the Rajya Sabha for “breach of privilege” after complaints of ‘fraud’.
His suspension followed a motion moved by the Leader of the House Piyush Goyal who sought action against the AAP leader for including names of some members of the Upper House without their consent in a proposed select committee for the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
The Upper House was adjourned twice in the pre-lunch session amid an uproar by opposition members who demanded a discussion and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement in the House on the situation in Manipur.
