8 Movies You Must Binge Watch this Christmas!

It is that wonderful time of the year again when you can get cozy under a blanket, spend time with family while watching movies. Imagine relaxing at home and watching movies with a cup of coffee. 

Here is a list of movies to binge-watch this Christmas!

1. Home Alone

A 1990’s film, Home Alone is an American Christmas comedy directed by Chris Columbus. Eight-Year-old Macauley Culkin is a cute and smart protagonist who was left behind at Christmas. He smartly defends his suburban Chicago home from burglars.

The villainy of the wet bandits, played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern, is fun to watch. After attaining much love, its sequel was released later in 1992, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

2. A Christmas Story

A 1983 comedy film, ‘A Christmas Story’ was directed by Bob Clark. The protagonist of the movie is a young boy named Ralphie Parker. He’sobsessed with the Red Ryder Range 200 Shot BB gun and consistently tries to convince all the adults in his life including a mall Santa Claus that it would be the perfect present for him to no avail. He’s disappointed when he hears how dangerous a BB gun can be but he still keeps pestering them for one. On Christmas day, he gets what he asks for but does it live up to the hype he built in his head? The story deep dives into the saying ‘be careful what you wish for’ in a fun relatable way.

3. 8-Bit Christmas

A 2021 American comedy film, 8-Bit Christmas was directed by Michael Dowse and is a remake of ‘A Christmas Story’. The main character of the movie is Jake Doyle (Neil Patrick Harris). His daughter is obsessed with a cell phone, and while looking at her, he feels nostalgic about his childhood days when he wished to get a Nintendo Entertainment System for Christmas in 1980. He tells his daughter how he managed to get Nintendo after working hard all summer. The story is a flashback of Jake as he narrates it to his daughter.

4. A Boy Called Christmas

A 2021 British film, A Boy Called Christmas, is a fantasy film about how children spend their holidays. Andrea, Moppet, and Patrick’s father left for urgent work, and their mother died. The children are left with their aunt, an old woman, who tries to entertain them by telling a Christmas tale. The movie also features a talking mouse that brings a magical essence to it.

5. While You Were Sleeping

A 1995 Romantic Comedy film, While You Were Sleeping, revolves around a girl, Lucy, a transit worker who secretively loves a commuter named Peter and saves his life from the train track.  Doctors declare him to be in a coma. The family of Peter assumes her to be their son’s fiance, and she cannot explain the truth. Later she falls in love with Peter’s younger brother. When Peter wakes up and the family arranges their wedding,Lucy is left with no choice but to confess everything.The comedy of errors directed by Jon Turteltaub is a must-watch.

6. Jack Frost

A 1998 Christmas movie, Jack Frost is a fantasy comedy film starring Michael Keaton and Kelly Preston. Jack is the husband and father who dies in a car accident and comes back to life as a snowman. He was a singer and had no time for his family, but he gave great life lessons to his son Charlie after coming back as a snowman. The movie has become a great hit and it is a must-watch just for the life lessons it has.

7. Elf


What is the first thing that comes to your mind when someone says elf? Short creatures with pointy ears helping Santa Claus. But Buddy, who was raised by elves on the North Pole is very different. His clothes are big and he barely fits into any of the furniture. One fine day, the very tall “Buddy” played by Will Ferrel realizes that he isn’t an elf at all and is in fact very far away from home. He goes on a journey to find his birth father who is in New York. The funny 2003 Comedy movie directed by Jon Favreau is a heartwarming tale of friendship, family and self awareness.

8. The Grinch

Dr Suess’ ‘How The Grinch stole Christmas!’ has been adapted to screen a few times. From a television show to a live action movie, the tale continues to tickle a new generation in an animated format. The 2018 rendtition of it, The Grinch,  is an animated movie based in a town named Whoville, where everyone is excited to celebrate Christmas, but Grinch, along with his dog, plots to ruin the village by stealing all the Christmas decorations. The animated movie directed by Scott Mosier and Yarrow Cheney is perfect for children and adults alike!
