7-Day Multi Lingual Festival: 4th & 5th days feature reading of Punjabi, Pahari short stories

JAMMU, August 21: On the fourth and fifth day of 7-day Multilingual Short Story Festival at JKAACL premises in Jammu Punjabi and Pahari writers presented short stories.

In this 7 Day Festival writers of Dogri, Hindi, Punjabi, Gojri, Pahari and Kashmiri languages will present their short stories. The festival  features senior writers along with young budding writers of J&K. Besides this an exhibition of various publications of JKAACL in all languages was also displayed during the festival.

On the fourth day, nine Punjabi stories were read by prominent authors including young budding writers of Punjabi. In The Inaugural session  the writers who presented Short stories  included  Jasmit Singh presented story “Khanabadosh”, Manjit Singh Kamra presented story “Untitled”, Amarjit Kour Neer presented story “Vapsi”, Prof. Anmole Singh presented story “Mehla Divas” and Antarjeet Kour presented story “Lala”.

This session was chaired by Dr. Baljit Singh Raina with Dr. M.K Waqar Gojri Short story writer, Popinder Singh Paras, editor Sheeraza Punjabi  and Dr. Anuradha, Assistant Prof. Punjabi in the  Presidium. In the beginning of the session, S. Popinder Singh Paras Editor Sheeraza Punjabi welcomed the audience on behalf of Secretary JKAACL, Bharat Singh.

In the second session, Dr. Monojit  presented story “Mukti”, Surinder Kaur Neer presented story “Ram Sunehi”, Jang Singh Verman presented story “Famba” and  Dr. Baljit Singh Raina presented story “ Password. 

The second session was chaired by Dr.Ashok Kumar, Harjit Singh Uppal, Jang Singh Verman. Both sessions were ably conducted by Dr. Anuradha. Dr. Shahnawaz, Editor Cum Cultural officer, Gojri presented the vote of thanks.

Fifth day of the festival featured Pahari short stories. Anil Saigal, Senior Journalist and Dogri Writer was the chief guest on the occasion while Sheikh Azad Ahmad, Veteran Pahari writer was guest of Honour.  The session started with the welcome address by Dr. Shahnawaz, Editor Cum Cultural officer, Gojri on behalf of Secretary JKAACL.

The writers who presented their stories included Sheikh Azad who presented short story “Himat”, Ghazanfar Hokar presented short story “Phai na Phirkan”, Javaid Haqani presented short story “Pichtawa”, Altfa Janjua presented short story “Petkarori na puter”, Shamas Ud Din Shaz presented short story “Qismat Pakhro”, Sheikh Zahour presented short story “Tarqi”, Saleem Akhter presented short story “Qudrat Ne Khaid Naralay” and Mohd Farooq presented short story “Mighi Kahar Hini Julo”.  Altaf Hussain Janjua conducted the proceedings of the program. Reeta Khadyal, Assistant Editor, JKAACL presented Vote of thanks.

 The festival started on 17th August and will continue till 23rd August, 2023 daily from 10.30 a.m onwards and is open to all. Tomorrow on 22ndh August, 2023 writers of Kashmiri Language will present their short stories.
