50 women complete 1 month training course hosted by Fruit Craft Centre Jammu

JAMMU, JUNE 05: Joint Director Horticulture Jammu, Gul Syed today presented certificates to fifty women trainees at Patta Ploura and B.Ed College Jammu, marking the conclusion of a one-month food processing training programme conducted by the Fruit Craft Centre Jammu.

During the training, participants acquired hands-on knowledge in the preparation of various value-added horticultural products such as jams, squashes, nectars, preserves, pickles, chutneys, and candies.

In his address, the Joint Director highlighted the economic importance of value addition in horticulture, particularly in minimizing post-harvest losses, enhancing product quality, and extending shelf life. He also elaborated on various government schemes, including the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) and other support mechanisms available to youth interested in food processing and product marketing.

He emphasized that the certification from the Fruit Craft Centre could empower trainees to launch their own startups in the field of food processing and marketing.

Additionally, he encouraged the trainees to enroll in a six-month training programme in food processing offered free of cost by the Horticulture Department.

Manager-cum-Chemist Sureshta Gour and other staff members of the Fruit Craft Centre were also present on the occasion.
