4 trapped workers rescued from Ujh River after flash floods; Kathua Police & SDRF avert tragedy

Four highway workers were heroically rescued on Tuesday morning after being trapped in a sudden flash flood on the Ujh River in Rajbagh, Kathua.

Heavy rains in the upper reaches of the district caused the rapid rise in water levels, catching the unsuspecting workers off guard.

A joint operation involving the Kathua Police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was launched swiftly upon receiving information about the trapped individuals. It took approximately two hours for the rescue teams to safely evacuate all four persons from the rapidly flowing river.

Take One News Correspondent from Kathua, Harpreet Singh Sethi provided comprehensive details, shedding light on the sequence of events that unfolded in the morning. The workers had no prior warning of the flash flood and were engaged in their regular bridge construction duties when the water levels rose rapidly. Fortunately, the swift response of the authorities prevented any casualties.
